    A nonlocal curve flow in centro-affine geometry

    In this paper, the isoperimetric inequality in centro-affine plane geometry is obtained. We also investigate the long-term behavior of an invariant plane curve flow, whose evolution process can be expressed as a second-order nonlinear parabolic equation with respect to centro-affine curvature. The forward and backward limits in time are discussed, which shows that a closed convex embedded curve may converge to an ellipse when evolving according to this flow

    Effect of the Dispersibility of Nano-CuO Catalyst on Heat Releasing of AP/HTPB Propellant

    Kneading time is adjusted to change the dispersibility of nano-CuO in AP/HTPB (Ammonia Perchlorate/Hydroxyl-Terminated Polybutadiene) composite propellants. Nano-CuO/AP is prepared to serve as the other dispersing method of nano-CuO, named predispersing procedure. Several kinds of heat releasing, thermal decomposition by DSC, combustion heat in oxygen environment, and explosion heat in nitrogen environment, are characterized to learn the effect of dispersibility of nano-CuO catalyst on heat releasing of propellants. With pre-dispersing procedures, thermal decomposition temperature of nano-CuO/AP and its propellant are about 25∘C and 8.6∘C lower than that of AP simple mixed with nano-CuO and its propellant, respectively. Comparing propellant with simple mixed nano-CuO kneading 3 hours, combustion heat and explosion heat of propellant with nano-CuO/AP increase about 1.4% and 1.7%, respectively. However, because of the breaking of nano-CuO/AP structure during kneading procedure, combustion heat and explosion heat of all the samples are decreased with the increase of kneading time after 3 hours

    Design of the Tsinghua Tabletop Kibble Balance

    The Kibble balance is a precision instrument for realizing the mass unit, the kilogram, in the new international system of units (SI). In recent years, an important trend for Kibble balance experiments is to go tabletop, in which the instrument's size is notably reduced while retaining a measurement accuracy of 10−810^{-8}. In this paper, we report a new design of a tabletop Kibble balance to be built at Tsinghua University. The Tsinghua Kibble balance aims to deliver a compact instrument for robust mass calibrations from 10 g to 1 kg with a targeted measurement accuracy of 50 μ\mug or less. Some major features of the Tsinghua Kibble balance system, including the design of a new magnet, one-mode measurement scheme, the spring-compensated magnet moving mechanism, and magnetic shielding considerations, are discussed.Comment: 8 pages, 9 figure

    'Tax-free' 3DMM Conditional Face Generation

    3DMM conditioned face generation has gained traction due to its well-defined controllability; however, the trade-off is lower sample quality: Previous works such as DiscoFaceGAN and 3D-FM GAN show a significant FID gap compared to the unconditional StyleGAN, suggesting that there is a quality tax to pay for controllability. In this paper, we challenge the assumption that quality and controllability cannot coexist. To pinpoint the previous issues, we mathematically formalize the problem of 3DMM conditioned face generation. Then, we devise simple solutions to the problem under our proposed framework. This results in a new model that effectively removes the quality tax between 3DMM conditioned face GANs and the unconditional StyleGAN.Comment: Accepted to the AI for Content Creation Workshop at CVPR 202

    Adaptive Real-Time Estimation on Road Disturbances Properties Considering Load Variation via Vehicle Vertical Dynamics

    Vehicle dynamics are directly dependent on tire-road contact forces and torques which are themselves dependent on the wheels’ load and tire-road friction characteristics. An acquisition of the road disturbance property is essential for the enhancement of vehicle suspension control systems. This paper focuses on designing an adaptive real-time road profile estimation observer considering load variation via vehicle vertical dynamics. Firstly, a road profile estimator based on a linear Kalman filter is proposed, which has great advantages on vehicle online control. Secondly, to minimize the estimation errors, an online identification system based on the Recursive Least-Squares Estimation is applied to estimate sprung mass, which is used to refresh the system matrix of the adaptive observer to improve the road estimation efficiency. Last, for mining road category from the estimated various road profile sequencse, a road categorizer considering road frequency and amplitude simultaneously is approached and its efficiency is validated via numerical simulations, in which the road condition is categorized into six special ranges, and this road detection strategy can provide the suspension control system with a better compromise for the vehicle ride comfort, handling, and safety performance

    Bioaccessibility and Health Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in Dust of the Urban Areas of Guiyang, Guizhou, China

    To investigate what health risks the heavy metals in dust will bring to the human body after they enter humans through different exposure pathways- breathing inhalation and hand-to-mouth ingestion, this study took the old urban area of Guiyang as the study area to grasp the heavy metal concentrations of surface dust, in recreative squares main streets, hospitals, residential areas, and schools in the urban area, and the bioaccessibility in the simulated lung and simulated gastrointestinal. The results showed that the concentrations of Cu, Pb, Zn, Cd, Ni, and Cr in the dust were higher than the background values. Particularly, the Zn concentration exceeded the background value by 9.71 times. The bioaccessibility results indicated that the most soluble heavy metals in the simulated lung, simulated stomach, and simulated intestine were Zn, Ni, and Cu, respectively, and the bioaccessibility of most heavy metals was significantly higher in the gastric phase than that in the intestinal phase, and only the bioaccessibility of Cu was higher in the intestinal phase than that in the gastric phase. The linear results fit showed that the total amount of heavy metals alone could not be used for predicting the human intake of heavy metals in the dust. Human health risk assessment based on bioaccessibility showed that children had higher non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks than adults in terms of both hand-to-mouth ingestion and respiratory inhalation exposure pathways, but none of these figures exceeded the limit values
